The IBV helps Biomecanics to step into the adult market
Biomecanics, the leading children’s footwear brand, is taking a big step forward this autumn with the launch of its first collection for the adult market. Biomecanics has gained a wealth of experience over the years in designing footwear that helps children to develop in a healthy way, and now it has identified a need among mums and dads: they need footwear that helps them keep up with their kids and make it to the end of the day with some energy to spare. This is the premise behind the firm’s new collection for adults, which incorporates the exclusive Cone-Tech technology, based on a network of interconnected nodes, developed in collaboration with the Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV). “We know from our experience that once a child takes their first steps, they have an endless source of energy. That’s why we thought that parents really needed us to come up with shoes that provide them with enough energy to keep up with their children when they spend time with them throughout the day”, says the company’s CEO, Joaquín García.
The Cone-Tech technology, which forms the backbone of this new collection, provides active rest by distributing plantar pressure in a uniform way. To achieve this, the brand’s designs feature a patented system of interconnected nodes whose geometry and density vary across the sole, adapting to the movement of the foot at all times. In this way, the shoes adapt to our daily activities and provide a sense of active rest. This technology has been developed in collaboration with the IBV which has also carried out a biomechanical evaluation of the footwear, confirming its ability to reduce fatigue, improve stability and increase comfort throughout the day. According to Juan Carlos González, Director of Innovation in Footwear and Clothing at the IBV, “To develop this innovation, we based ourselves on the wide and varied range of activities that parents perform throughout the day, which includes playing with their children. Taking those requirements as our starting point, we designed a sole that adapts to the biomechanical needs of the foot, such as stability and flexibility, as well as an adequate distribution of pressure”.
The collection, for both men and women, is now on sale in their online store at biomecanics.com, proving that from now on, Biomecanics’ commitment to health and innovation is truly ageless.
